iPhone Podcasts play too fast

Some podcasts play at too fast a rate after iPhone users have installed iPhone/iPod software version 3.0. The reason is that the new software includes playback speed options that may be inadvertently set to "2X", but that you can easily reset to "1X" (normal). The three playback speed options are:

  • 2X
  • 1X
  • 1/2X

On earlier devices with earlier versions of iOS the speed options appear along with the "scrubber bar" and "Email" and "30-second repeat" options when you tap the cover image in the "Now Playing" screen. See the User Guide for your particular device for details (since recent iPhones and iOS operate slightly more intuitively than earlier models/versions).
