MS Word corruption or anomalous behavior
Tip Category:

If you see an error message from MS Word: 'The disk is full trying to write to "Macintosh HD". Free some space on this device ...', the chances are that this has to do with Word's temporary files.
Below is something you can do to flush out MS Word's caches and any corruption in Word. It will not take more than a minute to do. The Word problem is likely due to its "plist" file and its cache files needing to be reset. Here's how to accomplish that:
- In Finder (Mac OSX Lion): Hold down the Option key and click on the "Go" menu
- Select "Library"
- In the Library folder: Select "Preferences"
- In the Preferences folder: Delete "com.microsoft.Word.plist" & the folder named "Microsoft"
- Start up MS Word
