Store & Use Your Signature in Preview

Have you ever wanted to add your signature to a PDF document? With Preview V5 you can!

To save your signature for use in the Preview application, follow these steps:

1. Sign your name in black ink on a white piece of paper.
2. Open the Preview application's Preferences window.
3. Select the Signatures panel.
4. Click the plus sign in the lower left of the panel.
5. Follow the on-screen directions to snap a photo of your signature, then click Accept.

To include a saved signature in a PDF document:

1. Click Annotation icon (a pencil) in the toolbar, to display the annotations bar.
2. Click the Signature icon (a letter 'S' on a line) to display the Signature pop-up menu.
3. Choose a signature.
4. Click the location where you want the signature to appear.
5. Adjust the size of the signature, if necessary, by dragging its enclosing box.
